Frequently
Asked questions

Your sessions at Ridge Pilates will be fully customized to your individual needs and taught by me – Robin Wilson, the studio owner and certified instructor. Ridge Pilates is also a completely private studio, which makes it perfect for those who don’t like to exercise with an audience. This is a quiet, in-home studio on the ground floor with a private entrance, accessible parking, and a dedicated restroom. All sessions at the studio are private (individual) sessions (unless you book a duet with a friend or family member) so you will be the only client at the studio during your sessions. I will work with you one-on-one to help you be successful. Whether your fitness goals include running a marathon, recovering from labor and delivery, improving your golf swing, or gardening without back pain, your sessions at Ridge Pilates will be specifically designed to help you meet those goals sooner.

Yes! I create a custom Pilates experience for every single client, so I can meet you where you are. Each session at Ridge Pilates will be tailored to your specific needs, and beginners are welcome. Many beginners appreciate the privacy that Ridge Pilates provides. If you have any significant health concerns, please make sure you have permission from a doctor to participate in Pilates. Pilates can benefit people of all fitness levels and body types. You are welcome here!

Ridge Pilates is committed to creating a safe environment for all clients. Because this is a private studio, I will be the only one in the studio with you during your session (unless you book a duet with a friend or family member). There is a HEPA filter running in the studio at all times, and I will be happy to wear a mask upon request. I may also choose to wear a mask at certain times depending on local illness rates. All equipment is cleaned thoroughly between clients, and I can open windows and turn on fans to improve air circulation upon request. If you have specific needs or concerns, please reach out in advance of your first session to discuss how the studio can best support you.

You will see benefits with only one session per week. Most people, though, prefer to come two or three times per week to start to feel better and gain strength sooner.

Sure! I can accommodate up to two clients at a time. Please contact the studio for the rates for duets.

I recommend stretchy and form-fitting workout clothes (like leggings). Please do not wear clothes with zippers as they can damage the equipment. You can wear grippy socks or be barefoot. I have water available, but feel free to bring your own water bottle if you prefer.

As long as you have permission from the medical professionals treating you, yes! My first rule at the studio is: “follow your doctor’s orders.” And my second rule is: “if it hurts, stop.” If your doctor or therapist has given you specific instructions about movements to avoid (or to do!), be sure to let me know. Otherwise, I will use my professional judgment and many years of experience and continuing education to make your session safe and effective.

Absolutely. Many people appreciate the consistency of having standing sessions each week, but I understand that is not possible for everyone. I can schedule you for regular, standing sessions, or build out a customized schedule as far in advance as you’re comfortable. If you think you may not be available for a previously scheduled session, I recommend canceling it as soon as possible (at least 24 hours in advance) to avoid being charged for a late cancellation.

Ridge Pilates offers Zoom sessions! I will be happy to work with you via Zoom wherever you are. All you’ll need with you is a yoga mat and the proper workout attire. I’ll send you instructions on how to set up your mat and your camera, along with a Zoom link.

As long as you cancel at least 24 hours before your session, you will not be charged. If you are starting to feel ill or someone in your household is ill, I recommend you cancel your sessions for the week as soon as possible to avoid being charged for a late cancellation. Ridge Pilates requires 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule.

Prepare to have a great workout! I hope to see you at the studio soon!
